The Family Planning Association of Pakistan(FPAP) is a non-governmental social welfare agency, founded by a group of concerned citizens in 1953. Their commitment to making responsible parenthood as integral component in the field of social development was based on a human concern for the total well being of the Pakistani people. The FPAP, a pioneer and a catalyst for family planning, is today the country's largest NGO. In addition, 55,000 volunteers from different walks of life are involved in its projects all over the country, giving FPAP the widest community base of any NGO in Pakistan. Administratively, the Association operates through field offices comprising 131 community units and grassroots based CBOs. FPAP's primary role is advocacy for reproductive in the rights perspective. It emphasises the health rationale as part of overall development and in partnership with other NGOs and the Government. Its approach is demonstrative and multi sectoral. Its progamme and activities
are undertaken through strategic planning, have helped to identify. The inculcation of small family normin the society as number one priority issue and has been striving to achieve it through advocacy and service delivery. |
