The Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) is a network of organisations engaged in microfinance and dedicated to improving the outreach and sustainability of microfinance services in Pakistan. PMN evolved in late 1997 from an informal effort of several Pakistani attendees of the Microcredit Summit in February 1997. The Microfinance Group Pakistan (MFG-P) was created in 1999 It was registered under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 as a legal entity as the Pakistan Microfinance Network in April 2001. The Network has become increasingly active since 1999, establishing its membership, activities, and
credibility in an effort to address these issues. It has fostered greater awareness among policy makers, launched comprehensive capacity-building initiatives, established standards and benchmarks for transparency in microfinance institutions, and serves as an information hub for the local microfinance industry. The PMN's mission is to support the sector (especially retail microfinance providers) and enhance scale, quality, diversity, and sustainability in order to achieve inclusive financial services. |
