Brief Profile of the Organisation

The Area Study Centre (Central Asia), University of Peshawar, established under the Federal Act XLV 1975, began functioning in April 1978. It took two years 1976-77 to provide building for the Centre. The mandate of this Centre, a teaching cum research organisation, has been to impart knowledge and to conduct investigation on the land and people of Central Asia. During last 30 years, the Centre has established itself, against many odds, as a befitting seat of learning and research on Central Asia. In the new millennium the Government added teaching and research on Russian Federation and People's Republic of China as well.
